Vitamin A is a fat-soluble nutrient that is essential for healthy vision, cell growth and a healthy immune system. In animal products, vitamin A is called 'preformed vitamin A' (retinol), and in fruits and vegetables it is known as 'pro-vitamin A carotenoids'. The most common type of pro-vitamin A is beta-carotene.
Make sure you get enough iron in your diet, because it helps vitamin A get absorbed and metabolized by our bodies. Too little iron in the body will result in less vitamin A being absorbed from our diet.
