Question 9. Why do I need vitamin supplements in pregnancy if I'm eating healthily?

A lot of women struggle to eat a balanced, healthy diet during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. There are also certain nutrients which are not widely found in foods and which the UK Department of Health advise pregnant and lactating women to supplement with. The UK Government recommends that you take 400mcg (micrograms) of Folic Acid and 10mcg of Vitamin D during pregnancy (which are included in all Seven Seas pregnancy products). Folic Acid is essential for your baby's development and is needed to promote the healthy formation of the baby's neural tube. Vitamin D supports the normal growth and development of strong bones.

It is perfectly safe to take 400mcg of Folic Acid everyday throughout the whole of your pregnancy.
