Probiotics
Probiotics, also known as “gut flora” are the friendly bacteria which inhabit our digestive system. A healthy gut flora has an important role to play in maintenance of a healthy immune system and digestive system.
Each tablet of Multibionta contains ten million Probiotic cultures from three different strains. These friendly bacteria are in a tablet which has been specially coated to help ensure that they survive their journey through the highly acidic stomach environment, and are only released when they reach your gut where they are needed most.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A, which is also known as retinol, can help to maintain normal vision. Carrots are a good source of beta carotene which can then be made into Vitamin A by the body, and it’s a common belief that carrots can help you see in the dark! In fact this was a piece of wartime propaganda put out by the British War Office to disguise the use of radar by British pilots when flying night missions. Vitamin A is also necessary for normal cell differentiation, especially in the immune system. Vitamin A is found in liver and dairy products such as milk, cheese and cream. Return to table
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is often known as “the sunshine vitamin”, because it is produced by your metabolism when sun’s rays come into contact with your skin.
Vitamin D is used in healthy bodies to aid the normal absorbtion and utilisation of calcium and to help maintain normal blood calcium concentrations It’s also needed to help maintain our healthy bones and teeth. Egg yolks, oily fish and dairy products do also contain Vitamin D. Return to table
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is an antioxidant and is present in many ‘superfoods’. Vitamin E is necessary for cell protection from damage caused by free radicals such as the oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids Vitamin E is often found in foods like cereals, nuts and seeds. Return to table
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an essential vitamin that helps our bodies maintain their health in a large number of ways. Vitamin C cannot be stored in the body for long periods of time and it’s important to replenish your supply every day.
Supplementing Vitamin C intake is a choice many people make when they want to support a healthy immune system. Vitamin C is also necessary for the normal structure and function of connective tissues, required for normal gums, skin, bones and cartilage. Other functions of Vitamin C include helping to maintain the structure and function of blood vessels, and contributing to the absorption of iron from food. It also helps protect the body’s tissues from the damaging effects of free radicals and is needed for a healthy nervous system.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are good sources of Vitamin C. Return to table
The B Vitamins
Vitamin B1 (Thaimin), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid), Vitamin B6, Vitamin B7 (Biotin), Vitamin B12
The B vitamins were originally thought to be a single substance, but Nutritionists now know that it’s a rich cocktail that benefits our bodies in a whole host of ways. They are critical to help support the normal release of energy from food, and to support the mucous membranes such as the lining of the mouth, nose and throat and for helping to support the normal function of the nervous system. The B Vitamins can be found in meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, wholegrain foods and eggs. Return to table
Folic Acid (Vitamin B9)
Folic Acid (Vitamin B9) is especially important for women who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. If you are planning to become pregnant you should take folic acid supplements - even if you are healthy and have a good diet. If your pregnancy was unplanned, you should take folic acid supplements from the time when you first learn you are pregnant. Folic acid helps support the development of the baby’s spinal cord. The recommended intake for most women is 400mg per day.
Ask your Doctor or Pharmacist about supplements which are specially tailored for use in pregnancy. Return to table
Iron
Iron is essential for the formation of haemoglobin, the red pigment in blood. The iron in haemoglobin combines with oxygen and transports it through the blood to the body's tissues and organs. It is also needed for the healthy formation of new cells. Good dietary sources of iron include meat (especially red meat), pulses (such as lentils) and dark green vegetables. Return to table
Zinc
An essential part of our bodies’ wellbeing, Zinc is necessary for the normal function of the immune system, for normal cell division and also contributes to the maintenance of the reproductive system. Zinc is also an important part of many enzymes, some of which have key roles in the formation of new proteins - one of the processes involved in tissue growth. Zinc helps to support the immune system plus maintenance of hair, skin and nails. Superoxide dismutase (a powerful antioxidant enzyme that neutralises potentially damaging free radicals) requires zinc. Shellfish and seafood are great sources of Zinc, and wheatgerm, tofu, meat and eggs also contain significant traces of Zinc. Return to table
Iodine
Iodine is needed for a healthy functioning of the thyroid gland. And the the maintenance of normal skin. It is also involved in the release of energy from food. Return to table
Manganese
Manganese primarily works as a coenzyme that facilitates various metabolic processes in the body. It is used to help maintain healthy bones, and contributes to the formation of connective tissues and energy yielding metabolism. Return to table
Chromium
Chromium is involved in the maintenance and balance of blood-sugar levels. Dietary sources of Chromium include meats and shellfish. Return to table

Lutein
Lutein is found in high concentrations within the macula of the eye – the area responsible for central vision. Supplementation with Lutein is believed to help maintain healthy vision as we age. Dietary sources of Lutein include leafy green vegetables and eggs (especially egg yolks). Return to table
